Meriam Yehya Ibrahim, a Christian Sudanese woman, was convicted of ‘adultery’ and ’apostasy’ by a court in Khartoum on 11 May.
If she does not recant her Christian faith by her next hearing on 15 May, she is likely to be sentenced to death for ‘apostasy’ (renouncing Islam).
Meriam, who is 27, also faces up to 100 lashes for adultery.  She is currently being detained along with her 20-month-old son and is eight months pregnant with her second child.
