Few days to inauguration: Gov. Lamido jets out, hands over to Jigawa SSG



Jigawa State governor, Sule Lamido, on Wednesday handed over the state administration to his Secretary to State Government (SSG) Lawan Abdu Babura and proceeded on his annual leave.


Women in Jigawa wept profusely as they bid Mr. Lamido farewell at Dutse International Airport.


Lamido was traveling to Germany for medical checkup and Saudi Arabia for the lesser hajj.



The Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Lawal Abdu, would oversee the affairs of the government in his absence.


It was observed that women numbering hundreds were seen crying profusely as Lamido’s flight left Dutse Airport.


The PDP women leader in the state, Hajia Telle Hadejia, said that they were not happy because the governor was leaving them.


Hadejia explained that Lamido had served the state meticulously, adding that his absence would be felt by all.

An Adviser to the Governor on Women Affairs, Hajia Sekinatu Aliyu, said that she shed tears of joy because Lamido served the state with utmost commitment, dedication achieving tremendous success during his eight year tenure.


Another woman from Birninkudu, who gave her name as Aishatu Kafingana, said that what was uppermost in her mind was the development strides brought by the governor during his tenure.


“Jigawa has never had it so good since the creation of the state.


“It is in consideration of this that I will have liked him continue, if the constitution did not limit his term of office.”


Lamido had earlier told media personnel that he was going to Germany for medical checkup.


The governor said that he would proceed to Saudi Arabia for the lesser hajj to thank God for guidance and protection throughout his eight years as governor.
