Aisha Buhari sues Governor Fayose

President Muhammadu Buhari’s wife, Aisha, has sued Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State for claiming she was involved in the Halliburton scandal.

Fayose had in June accused Mrs. Buhari of being the “Aisha Buhari” named in a U.S. court document involved in bribery case involving a convicted former U.S. lawmaker, Williams Jefferson.
But investigations show that it was an impostor at play. Fayose however insisted he was right, despite a letter from Aisha seeking a retraction and apology from the Governor and threat of lawsuit if he failed to comply.
Fayose, through his counsel, Mike Ozekhome, dismissed Aisha’s threat of legal action and waved his immunity at her.
In the ex-parte motion, filed July 20, 2016, Aisha asked the Federal High Court, Abuja Division, to grant her reliefs to issue writ of summons against Fayose and his media advisers, Idowu Adelusi and Lere Olayinka.
Through her counsel, Mary Ekpere, she, prayed the court for the lawsuit to be served on Fayose and his two aides, even though Ekiti State is outside the jurisdiction of the Abuja Division of the FHC, through a courier service or by media publication.
Olukayode Adeniyi, the presiding judge, granted all reliefs sought by Aisha, including an order of substituted service.
